Kenny Larkin is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in Detroit techno, a visionary artist whose work helped define the second wave of the city’s movement. Emerging in the early 1990s alongside peers like Carl Craig and Richie Hawtin, Larkin quickly distinguished himself with a deeply soulful, emotive approach to electronic music. His debut album Azimuth (1994, Warp Records) and later works such as Keys, Strings, Tambourines (2008, Planet E) are considered landmark releases, blending futuristic rhythms with jazz-inflected harmonies and melodic depth that set him apart from his contemporaries.

Beyond his releases on prestigious labels like Warp, Planet E, and R&S, Larkin’s global influence extends through decades of touring, DJing, and live performances, bringing Detroit’s sound to dancefloors across Europe, Asia, and the Americas.
